Crownmane was founded by Talia A. Bako, a female entrepreneur with African roots who was born and raised in the United States.
Talia’s story is one many women understand: learning early that hair can change the way you feel—how you stand, how you speak, how you move through a room. But she also learned something else: too often, the hair industry expects women to accept inconsistency. To accept disappointment. To accept “it’s okay” when it’s not.
So she built Crownmane with a different mindset: make quality predictable. Make the experience feel respectful. Make the result feel like confidence, not stress.
That belief didn’t stay as a motto—it shaped how Crownmane was built, year by year.

Crownmane began in 2015 in the United States with one belief: when a woman invests in her hair, she deserves quality she can trust – every time.
In the U.S., the hair market is fast, loud, and crowded. Trends come and go. Promises are easy to make. But trust is harder to earn. So we built Crownmane the slow way: by focusing on what customers actually remember after the first wear: consistency, comfort, and hair that stays beautiful with proper care.
Year by year, order by order, that commitment became our foundation. Over the past 10 years, we’ve grown as a retail brand in America because women have come back, not just for the look, but for the feeling: receiving something that matches what was promised, putting it on, stepping outside, and thinking, “Yes, this is me.”
Now, after strong success in the U.S., we’re expanding to Africa with our best bone straight wigs and bundles, built on the same standard and respect.
For many of us, Africa is more than a place on a map. It is memory. It is family. It is the first stories we heard, the first names we carried, the first kind of belonging we understood.
Our founder grew up in the United States, yet never grew away from her roots.
